The Mossy Creek Lodge, once opened to fly fishing anglers, is now a private residence of close friends of the fly shop. The lodge is home to over 1 mile of Mossy Creek near the town of Bridgewater at the lower end of the spring creek before it dumps into North River. The lodge has a reputation of being one of the best hopper fishing stretches of Mossy Creek. The cornfields that grow along one side of the creek for almost half a mile grow some seriously large grasshoppers. The hopper fishing coincides with the Hex hatch in August bringing large fish to the surface almost any time of day in the late summer months. The streamer fishing is typically good year round and the trico and sulphur hatch is predictable and produces good numbers of rising fish. This is the main property that plays host to the Annual Mossy Creek Invitational, a large fundraising event set up by the owners and friends of the Lodge and Mossy Creek Fly Fishing for Project Healing Waters. The lodge property is not available for rod fee bookings. Access to the water is available on guided trips through Mossy Creek Fly Fishing only.
Fall fishing is here and rain is on the way. We are focusing our guiding on musky in the Shenandoah and James Rivers and trout on the spring creeks. Weekends are filling up quickly for the last part of the year. Give us a call to book your trip today!
